Rink of Dreams Hits thin Ice
Ottawa’s newest outdoor skating rink debuted downtown Ottawa last Wednesday. The facility, sponsored by the Sens Foundation, is refrigerated and will be open from November to March. Aside from a brief closure on Saturday night, skaters were generally thrilled about the new rink.
City Debates ask Big Questions 
The SAW Gallery hosted the first of its City Debates, inviting Andrew Cohen and Barrie McKenna to speak on urban planning in Ottawa. Between Ottawa Xpress’ “Ottawa Sucks!” cover and Emma Godmere’s rebuttal, Ottawans are talking about what makes their city great, or not great enough. Midweek’s Michelle Blanchard reports.
Ottawa’s First Women’s Slam Poetry Championship 
Midweek’s Chris Uhlig attended the first women’s slam poetry championship in Ottawa held at Arts Court. He spoke with poet Sara Musa about the lack of female voices in many slam events. He also spoke with event organizers Rusty Priske and Kate Hunt about women poets in Ottawa’s slam scene, and the future of this event.
Ottawa Pool Championship Culture

Goth Group holds Vendor’s Sale
