Flash Content

How do I view Flash content?

Capital News Online frequently uses Flash in the 'Multimedia' and 'News' sections to bring you interactive features and content.

In order to view our Flash content, you need to download the Flash 9 plug-in from Adobe. This plug-in is free.

If you have both Firefox and Internet Explorer, you will have to install the plug-in separately for each browser by following the link above in each browser.

MY CLIPS What is MY CLIPS?

A clip is a link to an article stored in the MY CLIPS container. Clicking MY CLIPS on the navigation bar opens this container. The purpose of a clip is to allow you to browse and select headlines for later viewing. The clips are stored in a cookie until you remove them. Our site will remember which clips you have stored if you leave and come back within six days.

How do I use the MY CLIPS feature?

Find an article you are interested in reading, and click on the 'Add to My Clips' icon, which is available for every article. If an article has no 'Add to My Clips' icon, the clip has already been added to the MY CLIPS container.

You can read your clips by clicking on MY CLIPS and then selecting the article.

How do I clear MY CLIPS?

Click on MY CLIPS on the navigation bar. At the bottom of the menu, you can select to Clear all Clips or Clear Read Clips. Clips will remain stored until you remove them, or after six days.

RSS

What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." Simply put, RSS takes the hassle out of staying current. You can subscribe to a RSS channel and have its content delivered directly to you. No more surfing from Web site to Web site.

How do I use RSS?

To use RSS, you need a news reader. There are different types: some require a Web browser, and others are stand-alone programs that you download and install on your computer. Both allow you to subscribe and display RSS channels.

When you get a news reader, you need to decide on the content you want. Web sites offering a RSS channel will display an orange RSS button.

At Capital News Online, the RSS button is located on the right-hand side of the home page.

To subscribe to the RSS channel, copy and paste the RSS URL into a new feed in your news reader.

Some browsers such as Firefox, Opera and Safari allow you to automatically pick up RSS feeds. For help on how to do this, visit your browser's help menu.
