Q: Is Charity Ball exclusive to Carleton University?
A: No! Although founded and operated each year by Carleton students, Charity Ball is a community event. Students from all educational institutes in Ottawa and across Canada are welcome to attend Charity Ball.
Q: Is there a dress code for Charity Ball?
A: Although no formal dress code is implemented by the Charity Ball Committee, Formal and semi-formal attire is the standard for the Ball.
Q: What committees were chosen for Charity Ball 2007?
A: This year’s charities are The Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind and The Hopewell Eating Disorders Support Centre of Ottawa. Proceeds from Charity Ball will be donated to these charities in mid-march after the accounting has been completed.
Q: How are charities selected?
A: Each year after the AGM has bee conducted and a new committee has been selected, the committee composes a standard application package for local charities in which certain questions must be answered as well as the submitting of the charities financial statements.
The charity ball committee then reviews all applications in a closed door meeting and selects two charities to work in partnership with Charity Ball for the upcoming year. One charity must be of a Humanitarian nature, while the other must be of an environmental nature. Both Charities must not receive large corporation donation or be recipients of government grants.
Q: Will Alcohol be served at Charity Ball?
A: Charity Ball, like all reception events, will have a number of cash bars available to attendees. Because Charity Ball will be hosted at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec, the drinking age will be 18.All attendees are required to bring Government issued Identification to the Event if they wish to consume alcoholic beverages.
Q: Is there a coat check service available?
A: A coat check service will be available at charity ball for a fee of $2.00.
Q: How many tickets are available to Charity Ball?
A: Although normally there is no maximum number of tickets to Charity Ball, this year, due to the capacity at the Museum of Civilization, there is a maximum of 1500 tickets on sale. The Charity Ball committee recommends that students that wish to attend the ball buy their tickets when the go on sale. We can not guarantee that tickets will be available on the day of the ball.
Q: What is the cost of a ticket to Charity Ball?
A: The cost of an advance sales ticket to Charity Ball is $20. Any ticket sales at the door will be $25.
Q: What is included in the cost of the ticket?
A: Included in your ticket price is the entrance into the Ball at the Museum of Civilization and the use of the Shuttle Bus that will be operating between the University and the Museum starting at 7:45 p.m.
Q: Why do I have to give a name when purchasing a ticket?
A: When you purchase a ticket to Charity Ball 2007, the vendor will ask you to provide them with the name of the attendee. The reason is to protect the ticket buyer in the event that they loose their ticket.
Q: Is Charity Ball accessible?
A: Charity Ball has been working with both CDAC and the Museum of Civilization to ensure that Charity Ball is accessible to all attendee’s. The Museum of Civilization is equipped with accessible bathrooms and elevators for attendees and the beverage stands will also be accessible.
Q: Is there parking available at the Museum?
A: Yes, parking is available at the Canadian Museum of Civilization for a nominal fee. The price for parking is not included in the cost of your ticket but use of the free shuttle service is included. This is a great opportunity to save money and the environment!
Q: Who do I contact if I want to volunteer at Charity Ball?

Q: Is charity Ball a CUSA Committee?
A: No. Although Charity Ball and CUSA work in collaboration to hold Charity Ball, Charity Ball is an independent Club & Committee. The Vice-President External of CUSA is a voting member of the Committee and voices CUSA’s views and opinions to the Committee. All decisions regarding committee are made by its elected members.
